25 teams will represent India at the World Robot Olympiad, scheduled to take place at Doha, Qatar in November this year
NEW DELHI / BENGALURU, India -September 27, 2015 – The 10th edition of Indian Robot Olympiad (IRO) 2015, was organized on 26th and 27th of September in Epicenter Gurgaon, created a buzz among the audience. Sh. TL Satyaprakash, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Gurgaon was the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the IRO 2015 and handed over awards. 709 students from different schools across the country had participated in this national competition.
Indian Robot Olympiad (IRO) 2015 was held across the country for students aged between 9 and 18. The regional contests were held in Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi-NCR, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Surat. 25 teams will represent the country at the World Robot Olympiad, scheduled to take place at Doha, Qatar in November this year.
“Studying robotics in schools have the potential to develop scientific creativity in children and help them acquire knowledge that is relevant towards progressive education,” said Mr Sudhanshu Sharma, Founder at India STEM Foundation. “In India, we want to make children familiar with such innovative concept and technology at an early stage and prepare them to embrace this technology with enthusiasm as they enter the professional world and compete in the global space.”
“While India is transforming itself from investment driven economy to innovation driven economy, I find the initiatives like Robotics to hasten this process. The IRO will go a long way in reinforcing this. “It is important that we need to equip new generation with something more innovative and more comprehensive as far as productivity is concerned,” said Mr T.L. Maruti Suzuki and DLF have associated to sponsor the Indian Robot Olympiad 2015.

Teams like Furious3, Qmega 2.1, Thunder Divers, Gold Assasins, DK 100 and Robogenius High Voltage from Delhi, Mumbai and Surat have been continuously participating in this prestigious IRO competition, showcasing their robotic models and demonstrating them from past 3 to 4 years. The teams have also been successfully cracking challenges within the shortest possible time.
The contestants will further go through a series of robotic classes during their academic year in their respective labs. This creation is the result of intensive training given to them by the experts.
