Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a brain disorder that limits a person’s ability to communicate and relate to other people. The limitations are visible in social interactions, verbal and non-verbal communication and intrinsic motivation. Restricted and repetitive behavior is part of the behavior of an individual on autism spectrum. PDD-NOS and Asperger’s Syndrome are classified under ASD. While some characteristics may be milder, others could be more severe.

Ms Kamini Lakhani, Founder & Certified Trainer at SAI Connections said, “When a child is diagnosed with autism, the most difficult experience is for parents. For them, handling autism is challenging and exhausting. They try everything to reduce robotic and aggressive behavior (also known as meltdowns) in their children, while working on improving their communication, academics, social interactions and skills to land a job. However, many families and professionals, despite working really hard and carrying out a lot of steps, don’t see encouraging results. They still feel like something is missing. To overcome this, the core deficits of autism, like motivation, awareness, thinking and problem-solving need to be addressed.

These 2-day workshops are aimed at addressing these concerns of parents. Parents and professionals will interact with consultants who have spent over 20 years studying autism. They will  get answers to pressing questions specific to their challenges not only from the speakers but also from  fellow parents of children and young adults on the autism spectrum. Parents and professionals will be empowered to a child better and vice versa. They also will get updated on the latest provenly effective practices from around the world. This workshop will spread awareness about autism and other learning disabilities, along with enabling parents and professionals to find the missing pieces of the autism puzzle.
